To connect your PlayStation 3 to your wireless network:

1. From your PS3 main menu, select Settings, Network Settings and Internet Connection settings, then press the X button.

2. If you receive a message saying 'If you perform Internet Connection Settings, the system will be disconnected. Do you want to continue?', select Yes.

3. Select Wireless as your connection method and press right on the directional pad to continue.

4. Select Scan and press right again .

5. From the list, select your network name (SSID) and press X.

6. On the next screen, press the right button to continue.

7. Select your wireless networks security method - either WEP or WPA. If you do not have any security set up on your wireless network, select None. Press the right button.

8. If a security key is required an input page will appear. Press X to bring up the on-screen keyboard. Use the keyboard to enter your security key, then press the Start button on your pad.

9. Press right on the directional pad to continue.

10. Select Automatic and press right again.

connect to the internet via modem/router? Is your PC near your TV? If not, maybe a wireless router is your best option. Or homeplugs. If it is near your TV, and you have a router, simply plug an ethernet cable from the router to the PS3 and adjust your router settings accordingly.
Go to the network settings and then choose wireless or wired. If you choose wireless, choose search for a connection then choose the connection with the biggest signal strength and that's not locked.
The WPA or WEP keys are usually found on the computer that you set up the connection on. You could also try answering ';None'; to the security type on the network.
I had the same problem- do it wired and then try again with wireless.

Should work fine.
