Ps3 online?

I bought a linksys wireless-g router but I didn't open it up yet. I was just wondering on how you go about connecting it to the ps3 and what settings you need to change on the ps3. Do you use the network cable that comes with the router or do you use the cable the ps3 gives you. Do you just connect the cable and that is it and you change settings. Do you need to sign up for anything to get your psn name or account. Thanks for the helpPs3 online?
You are in luck my friend because I have that same exact router. Basically it depends on what you want. If you want to go wireless go to settings on the PS3 main menu. Then scroll all the way down to Network Settings. Go to Internet Connection Settings. Click ';yes'; if a box appears. Next select easy. Now pick your choice of wireless or wired. If you select wireless select scan. The name of you router should appear and hit X. Click right and select none on the WLAN Security Setting screen. It will give you a list of information, just click X and hit Test Connection. You should connect and you can get all the advantages of having online for you PS3.
