How to set up PS3 online with wireless. Having problems!!!?

i do all the stuff all the guides on youtube and on the playstation website tell me to do but when i get to ';test connection'; all it says is:


Obtain IP Address: Succeeded


Internet connection: Failed


this is unusual because i can connect my wii to the internet with my linksys router and its further away than the ps3?!?!?

Well it's obtaining an ip adress so it might not be a dns error. The ps3 may be failing to keep the connection stable between itself and the access point long enough to connect to the internet.





Try changing the wireless channel on your router because it may be getting interfered with by neighbours routers or household appliances.





In the playstation firmware, go to network options and set the wireless connecton manually. Make sure all the settings are correct.





Otherwise connect the playstation up with a cable and see if there is still problems. If there is still trouble then it would be a wireless dns problem.

Make sure you set everything to ';automatic'; for the Wi-Fi connection on the PS3 - except the security key, of course. I hope you are using at least WEP security and that you entered the right key - that sounds like the issue, since you are getting an IP address but can not connect to the internet.
